I've now had 3 days of break-in fires on our Rangeley and I think I LOVE IT!
Start up is way easier than the Leyden. I love the closed door for start up, as it seems to have a turbo effect with air from underneath. Today was my first full fire-up mode. I layered paper, kindling, two 2" diameter pieces of wood, and one 4" diameter piece of wood. I lit the paper, closed the door, and walked away. I came back in 15 minutes and had 150 degrees on the top, and a well established burn.
The F 50 is much better for no smoke in the room when you open the door to add wood. The Leyden always made me feel we needed to sweep the flue. I haven't had a bit of smoking yet. Air control is AWESOME! There is an incredible difference between wide open air to shutdown. I've found that about 3/4 closed keeps the stove at 350 degrees constant and the glass stays fairly clean.
Have a great holiday!
